Friendship Junior High School Diversity Talk - Elvis' Story

On March 7, 2024 I was invited to Friendship Junior High School to do a talk about diversity and belonging. The talk was inspired by the recent enrollment of numerous immigrants into Friendship and their difficulty finding acceptance from the larger student population. In this clip, I discuss my friend, Elvis Jimenez, who was one of the few Hispanic people in our town and how he was treated by our local community.

Friendship Junior High School Diversity Talk - Immigration Story

In this clip, I discuss how the United States is comprised mostly of immigrants who came to this country looking for opportunity and a better life.

Alex is the author of three books: Restorative Faith, Restorative Beauty, and the children’s book, The Forest.

SPEAKING

Alex draws on his experience of leadership, team management and cultural change to craft messages that instruct, inspire and transform. 

WEDDINGS

Alex has performed more than 50 weddings. He has the skills to execute a flawless ceremony that is both personal to the couple and memorable to the audience.

FILMS

Alex’s is a filmmaker whose recent work focuses on art house shorts and trailers. His feature film Shadows (2008) won Best in Show in a regional film festival.

ABOUT ALEX

Alexander Lang grew up in Virginia and attended Rice University on a NCAA Division I swimming scholarship, Oxford University and Princeton Theological Seminary. A former PC(USA) pastor, Alex worked in church ministry for 20 years. Known for his distinctive style of blending culture, science and philosophy into his messages, Alex led a 1000-member church comprised of people from all over the Chicago-land area. Since leaving the church, Alex has transitioned into speaking at corporate events, industry conferences and schools.
